Policy 24: Allergen Policy

The presence of an allergen in any food is of major concern throughout the food industry as it has the potential to be involved in fatal allergenic reactions.

There are many different forms of allergens, and to limit them all from the site, would be hard to enforce.

In order to reduce the likelihood of contamination of our product from nuts and other allergens such as Gluten, Eggs, Shellfish etc, Simplyfruit will ensure that

  • Nuts of any kind are not permitted onto our site.
  • There is no staffed canteen that can sell foodstuffs containing unknown allergens to our employees.
  • Employees bring in their own lunches, and will therefore only bring in foods that are suitable for themselves to consume.
  • On-site vending machine contents will be controlled with no nut products permitted.
  • Employees must remove all PPE, including safety footwear, when using the canteen facilities. This will prevent traces of the food stuffs being brought back into the processing areas following consumption.
  • Employees must wash their hands prior to entering the production room, including after meal breaks.
  • The addition of shrouded cheese portions into our products will ensure no milk cross – contaminates any other product.
  • Employees will be made aware of the Company’s Allergen Policy through training at induction and refresher training.
